Verizon Readies New FiOS TV Promotion
Bob Wallace
10/30/2008 Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) today confirmed that its current FiOS TV promotion will not be extended past Halloween, with an entirely new deal in preparation for launch early next week. Since Verizon has chosen not to again extend the current promotion, it’s possible the new deal will be more alluring. But it will be tough to match the trick-or-treat impact of the free HD TV set-turned-digital camera giveaway of late last year. The current promo, which expires tomorrow, applies to those who order FiOS TV alone, or in a bundle with other services such as FiOS Internet. The free DVR component of the promotion provides new customers a choice of DVR types, including high-definition units and those that support the operator’s multiroom DVR feature. The deal also provides new FiOS TV customers who sign one-year deals for the service a free month of premium movie channels HBO and Cinemax. Verizon continues to offer a $10 a month credit for one year for those who sign up for the service online, as opposed to calling toll-free customer service center numbers, in a bid to streamline the ordering process. The telco has also offered free activation as part of the popular promotion.
