Verizon Expands Web Ordering Discounts Across Bundles

Incentives Spread as NYC Entry Looms

Verizon Communications Inc. has expanded its $10 per month online order offer for virtually all bundles that include voice, data and video service whether provided through its FiOS packages or alternative means.

The telco grabbed headlines a few weeks ago with a direct mail campaign that included TV and voice for $74.99 per month for a year, which featured the monthly discount for the life of the agreement.

FiOS is the brand name for Verizon’s FTTH triple-play bundle. Verizon sells mixed and non-FiOS bundles and services, such as DSL, DIRECTV and voice, most of which aren’t delivered by fiber.

It’s also worthy to note the incentives apply to non-FiOS bundles.

Beyond the online ordering perk discount, Verizon will in many cases offer the first month of FiOS Internet or FiOS TV service free for a limited time. The telco recommends prospective customers check service availability on its Web site.

In specific cases, Verizon may waive activation charges for specific services if ordered online.

The enticements come as Verizon prepares for perhaps its largest concentrated FiOS deployment in the Big Apple in the coming weeks. Last Thursday, its TV franchise agreement with the City of New York received confirmation from the New York Public Services Commission.

The online ordering incentives are a departure from past lures such as free HDTVs and digital cameras for new subscribers.
