Cox to Take Dual Track to Wireless

The wireless aspirations of at least one cableco are coming into clearer focus, as Cox Communications detailed its plans for both facilities-based and partnership plays in the mobile space.

The cableco, which already owns $550 million worth of U.S. wireless licenses, plans to build its own 3G network. And it will test LTE 4G technology. To expedite its move into wireless, however, Cox also expects to partner with Sprint in the near term.
