BEA Puts Itself on Auction Block

Business software maker BEA Systems Inc. on Thursday put itself up for auction.

It said it would need at least $21 per share to get competitor Oracle Corp., which earlier this month tried to buy BEA for $17 per share, to raise its current bid.

Oracle made an unsolicited bid for BEA in October that BEA turned down for being too low. It covets BEA’s middleware computer coding.
