General Bandwidth Taps Former Taqua CEO to Lead Company

09/20/2004

General Bandwidth, a VoIP equipment manufacturer, on Monday named Charlie Vogt president and CEO. Vogt, the former president and CEO of Taqua Inc., succeeds Brendon Mills, who founded General Bandwidth in 1999.

During the two years Vogt led Taqua, the company grew its base from 15 customers in June 2002 to more than 110 customers by April 2004, according to a press release General Bandwidth issued. Tekelec acquired Taqua earlier this year.

“Charlie has proven that he can take late-stage startup companies to the next level,” says Leland Murphy, a member of General Bandwidth’s board of directors and partner with Trellis Partners, a venture capital firm that has invested in General Bandwidth.

Prior to Taqua, Vogt was part of the executive management team with Santera Systems. He also has held senior management positions with Accelerated Networks Inc., Ascend Communications, ADTRAN Inc, IBM and Motorola Inc.
