Fed Makes $2.2 Billion Available in Broadband Loans, Guarantees

The federal government will make available no less than approximately $2.2 billion for loans and loan guarantees to help ISPs introduce broadband service in underserved communities, the Rural Broadband Coalition said Wednesday. The Rural Utilities Service (RUS) within the U.S. Department of Agriculture manages the program. Late last year, a RUS official told XCHANGE the agency was evaluating about $1 billion in loan applications.
