Business Services: Intec Showcases Inter-mediatE V. 5

09/01/2004

Intec Telecom Systems PLC at USTA TELECOM ’04 will be demonstrating Inter-mediatE Version 5, the newest release of the company’s system that helps service providers simplify the mediation process and implement new subscriber services. Version 5 comes with enhanced capabilities including an integrated development environment, plug-in interface management and creation, and new system monitoring tools for managers and operational staff.

For example, the Business Logic Manager creates mediation logic without programming. Using “drag and drop” techniques, the Java client allows users to select mediation processes from a list of pretested functions. Mediation processes such as validation, correlation, duplicate detection, enrichment, transformation and filtering can be assembled using common components. The Business Logic Manager allows users to graphically monitor the details of the mediation process.

Version 5 also features the Management Dashboard for monitoring key performance indicators in the application.

Then there is the Integrated Development Environment, which incorporates GLIDE, or the GDC Language Integrated Development Environment, a subsystem that provides users with more capabilities to create detailed business rules from which mediation processes function. GLIDE comes equipped with setup wizards and eases access to data formats from the Inter-mediatE data library.

The Plug-in Management feature also comes standard with Version 5. It lets users combine and create new plug-ins for usage data collection from the interface library. Intec says this capability contributes to vendor independence as it removes the burden of having to return to the mediation vendor for new interfaces.

Finally, the System Monitor gives operators easy access to activity information and also provides manual control of the mediation system. Service delivery operational staff and managers can obtain an overview of operations in real time to discover the volume of usage data being processed or to see how many network elements polls are pending and more.

Version 5 also includes an accelerated global record search; enhanced performance for the Duplicate Record Detection and Correlation engines; and added support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS.
